Aquarius For Easter

We have some exciting news about Aquarius! This super fun game of elemental connections has been in the Looney Labs catalog since 1998. It was our second product after Fluxx, and it is near and dear to our hearts.

But there was one tricky thing about this game... with just 80 wider-than-Fluxx cards, it couldn't be group printed with our other titles, which are all 100 Fluxx-sized cards. So we decided to take the leap and redesign the cards to match the rest--100 smaller sized cards. In order to do that, we added a few new card orientations, as well (see Andy's blog post for details).

But we didn't stop there. Since we were redesigning the cards, we decided to take another leap and fully implement the preschool rule variants that were first added in 2009. You will now find complete rules for several preschool variants that cover a wide swath of pre-K learning objectives and are great fun, to boot! And you'll see that the age range on the box is now 3-Adult. This game is still just as much fun as it always has been for adults, but now it's also a great way to sneak in a little practice in counting, measurement, comparing, visual-spatial skills, motor skills, and social skills with your little ones.

Which brings us to our point about Easter, which is on April 4th this year. For those of you who celebrate Easter, Aquarius makes an excellent non-candy item to add to an Easter basket. It's tons of fun and will help keep your pre-K's skills sharp all summer long. While we transition from the old version to the new, we can't guarantee which version you might get in stores. But we can tell you that we have just 24 copies of the old version left in our webstore, so if you are a collector, now's your chance to grab up those last few. To use those old decks with preschoolers, you can download the new instruction sheet. Or if you hold off until March, you can get the new Aquarius in our brand new webstore that will be coming very soon! Either game is great fun and excellent educational value for your 3-5 year olds. Happy Easter!

P.S. Don't forget that there's also a great solo version for adults to enjoy!
